Bow Valley Parkway 100K

After a couple tries foiled by bad weather Sarah got her first metric century ride under her belt. We rode the Bow Valley Parkway [Hwy 1A] 50kms from Banff to Lake Louise and then back along the Trans-Canada [Hwy 1]. Although it rained on the drive up and while we were getting our bikes ready, the ride itself was completely dry and even sunny at the end. That's two rides in a row that I could have bailed on due to the possibility of rain that ended up being great. My new motto is "...go anyways.."...=-)

Sarah is doing really well on her Rocket - just gobbling up the KMs with no complaints. I think she'll be doing a 200K ride by the end of the season and I wouldn't be surprised to see her on a high performance bent next year. She has a talent for spinning those pedals.

It has taken me a while to get my new [used] Fujin SL on the road. I'll document that process in some other posts, but I will say that this is one fantastic bike. The Taifun is a great bike, but the Fujin is awesome! Jumping on it for a metric century without even a short test ride seemed a little foolish, but I threw caution to the wind and was rewarded with a great experience. Fast, comfortable and very stable. I was shooting video with one hand while cranking along at 50KPH bouncing over frost heave cracks on my first ride - that says a lot.

Enjoy the pics!

I think I was doing something like 150KPH downhill at this point and the wind was pushing my skin back making me look pretty silly...=-)
