Ouch! A Dahon? Any sort of factory warranty replacement part, or must you find in on your own?
I'm pretty sure they replaced that under warranty.
Those little bikes are not indestructible. It is more likely those hinges break from being torqued by the bars than from manufacturing defects (I did it myself, by accident). It's covered by warranty but if I broke it because I was yanking on the bars I would just pay for a new hinge and chalk it up to experience.
The area that I don't like on those bikes is the newer made-in-the People's Republic of China frame. PRC quality control gives me the willies at the best of times. I would prefer a Taiwanese (eg Pacific) frame manufacturer even if the bike costs more.
